2nd Ramadan Essay/Quiz Competition Begins0
The Second Edition of Ramadan Essay Writing/Quiz Competition for public students has commenced in Ogun State with a call on the students to reflect on the teachings of Allah and live together in peace and social harmony.
Organised by the Wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun and the Spouses of Ogun State Government Functionaries Association (SOSGFA), the competition involved school across the 20 local government areas of the State and was designed to assist the school children to have a good understanding of Islam and cultivate their interest in religious ideas.
According to Mrs. Amosun, “The Second Edition of Ramadan Essay/Quiz Competition would build on the success of the maiden edition held last year. The Second Edition would feature Poem Writing for Primary School Pupils. This requires pupils to write and submit their poem to the Education Secretaries in each of the Education Zones within the first two weeks in the month of Ramadan on the theme: ‘Ramadan! The Blessed Month.’”
She said the Essay/Debate Competition for Senior Secondary Schools would have as topics “Child Right: Islamic Perspective” and “Perceived Decay in the Education System, Who is to Blame: Parent, Teachers or the Government?” respectively.
The Essay/Debate competition would take place simultaneously on Thursday, July 11, 2014 at four divisions in the State. They are Remo Secondary School, Shagamu (Remo); Muslim College, Ijebu Ode (Ijebu); Yewa College, Ilaro (Yewa); and African Church Grammar School, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta (Egba).
The Quiz & Qur’an Recitation Competition, which involves Junior Secondary Schools with only one contestant per school for each of the competitions, would take place in selected schools in all the 20 local government areas in the State on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
They are Ode-Remo High School, Ode-Remo (Remo North); Sagamu High School, Sagamu (Sagamu); Ikenne Community High School, Ikenne (Ikenne); Ijebu Ife Comprehensive High School, Ijebu Ife (Ijebu East); Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo (Ijebu North); Ogbogbo Baptist Grammar School (Ijebu North-east); Muslim College, Ijebu-Ode (Ijebu-Ode); Odogbolu Grammar School, Odogbolu (Odogbolu); Ahamadiyya Comprehensive High School in Ogun Waterside (Ogun Waterside); and Ansar-ud-deen College, Ota (Ado-Odo/Ota).
Others include Muslim Grammar School, Imeko (Imeko Afon); Community Commercial Senior High School, Maun (Ipokia); Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro (Yewa North); Yewa College, Ilaro (Yewa South);African Church Grammar School, Ita-Iyalode (Abeokuta North); Nawair-ud-deen High School, Oke-Ijeun (Abeokuta South); Methodist High School Arigbajo (Ewekoro); Adenrele High School, Ifo (Ifo); Egba-Owode Grammar School (Obafemi/Owode); and Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Asero (Odeda).
