JAMB UTME 2013 Update: CBT Examination Date Postponed2
NO fewer than 10,000 men and officers of the Nigeria Security and Defence Corps (NSCDC) will be deployed for monitoring and supervision of the 2013 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled for April 27 across the nation.
This announcement by the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde, laid to rest the controversy generated by the rumoured attempt to scrap the UTME by the Federal Government.
Ojerinde, who spoke in Abuja, however, announced the shifting of the Computer-Based Test to May 18, 2013. The session will hold after the conduct of Paper Pencil Test (PPT), and Dual Based Test (DBT) on Saturday, April 27, 2013.
According to the Board, the decision to shift forward the date for the CBT was to avoid clash in examination dates with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO). The initial proposal was for JAMB to conduct the Computer-Based Test a week to April 27 as concluding date for 2013 UTME.
However, arising from discussions the Board management had with both WAEC and NECO, it became expedient for JAMB to hold the CBT in May to allow for ample seating arrangement and as considered candidates who might be involved in both examinations.
