Amosun’s Wife Charges Students on Academic Excellence

Governor's wife Mrs Olufunsho Amosun PhotoWife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun has charged students to always face their studies and put in their best at all times, saying there is a great reward for hard work.

Speaking during the second edition of Public Unveiling of the 20 Best SS3 Students in 2012/2013 West African Examination Certificate from public secondary schools in Ogun State at the Progress hall, South-west Resource Centre, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, Amosun’s wife said for the second year running, she would be taking the best students abroad for leadership training programme in the first quarter of 2014 as a reward for their excellent performance in the last WAEC.

The wife of the Governor noted that the advertisement placed in the media early in year 2013 contributed to the success story of the beneficiaries, congratulating the beneficiaries for emerging the best students in the WAEC results in the 20 Local Government areas.

She urged the students to work towards possessing good leadership qualities, encouraging them not to let her down and to leave the door open for other students to benefit in the programme come 2014 and beyond.

In 2012, Mrs. Amosun through her initiative tagged UPLIFTing SS3 Students took the best WAEC students in each of the 20 Local Government areas in the State on a two-week Leadership Training Programme by the Uplift Development Foundation to The Buckswood School, Hastings in the United Kingdom.

In his welcome address, the state Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Bar. Segun Odubela explained the programme was an opportunity for the students to have a feel of the dividend of democracy as put together by the wife of the Governor to complement the efforts of the state government in improving the standard of education in the state.

On behalf of the students, Master Sobowale Bukola expressed appreciation to Mrs. Amosun for fulfilling her promise as advertised in the media to recognise excellence in the WAEC results, saying this has helped boost his morale and motivated him to study hard for the examination. He thanked her for giving Ogun State students the opportunity to travel outside Nigeria when they study hard.
