The Ogun State government is to spend about N27.3bn on the construction and equiping of 26 ultra-modern model secondary schools across the state. Each of the schools which will be built on public private partnership basis, will cost N750 million while additional N300 million would be spent in equipping each school.
Two of the model schools are expected to be located each at Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Ifo, and Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government areas while the other 14 local governments would have one each.
The school with three blocks each containing two classrooms and a hostel block to accommodate at least two hundred and forty students will also have 24 classrooms, four science laboratories for Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Agriculture, a 400 capacity hall, a sport pavilion, a music room, as well as Information Communication Technology (ICT) room.
Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun laid the foundation stone for one of the Model School yesterday at the site located on Ilaro-Owode road.
The schools are expected to completed before the commencement of the next academic session.
