logo of two leading Universities in NigeriaThe latest webometric ranking done for global universities by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de investigacoues, Spain was released on February 6, this year. The Cybermetrics Lab, is devoted to the quantitative analysis of the Internet and Web contents specially those related to the processes of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge.

This release analysed 21,250 Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) globally, including 126 HEI in Nigeria.

In the top 10 positions in Nigeria are two universities sited in Ogun state namely Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and Covenant University, Ota (CU).

FUNAAB beat other 121 universities in the country to clinch the second position in Nigeria and 29th in the league of 814 higher educational institutions in Africa. CU ranked 10th in Nigeria and 75th in Africa.

Further analysis of the report reveals that FUNAAB, is the best university of agriculture in Africa. Similarly, it  places Covenant University, Ota, ahead of the 50 private universities in the country.
