wroThe Bells University of Technology, Ota Ogun will represent Nigeria at the 11th World Robotic Olympiad holding to be hosted in the Olympic city of Sochi, Russia between 21st and 23rd November 2014. This is sequel to her emergence as the winner of the senior category in a keen contest between over 50 participating schools from across the country. Other schools that will also represent the country are Troika School, Lekki, Lagos and Fountain Heights Secondary School, Surulere which emerged winner in the elementary and junior regular categories respectively.

World Robot Olympiad is a global robotics competition for young people. It brings together young people from all over the world to develop their creativity, design & problem solving skills through challenging & educational robot competitions and activities using Lego Mindstorms manufactured by LEGO Education.

Tayo Obasanya, Managing Director, Arc lights Ltd (Ltd, exclusive representative and distributor of LEGO Education in Nigeria) noted the World Robot Olympiad is a competition that involves children in the primary, junior secondary and senior secondary school and engages them in robotic education which promotes computer science, science, technology, engineering and mathematics and is open to students who are in public or private schools. He further stated that the competition is good because it helps bring technology which children today are already used to, introduces it to them in such a fun way that learning becomes not just exciting, but key concepts in science and technology are well understood.
